Green Chai – Green Chai Tea

Around the world, many different types of tea are consumed. Asians have been drinking tea since ancient times and Europeans have been drinking it for some hundred years. Countries like China, India, Malaysia, Indonesia, Kenya and Argentinia, to name just a few, are among the main producers and exporters of green tea throughout the world. And one tea among many different flavors of green teas is chai tea.

But what actually is chai tea? Chai is the Hindi word for tea, so when we say chai tea, we actually say tea tea. The proper name is masala chai which in Hindi means spiced tea. Green chai has not much to do with the original green tea from the eastern countries. It is a creation of modern western marketing firms. This chai is also different from the original chai from India.

Some of the most famous chais in India are masala chai, chimney chai, and mild chai. Green chai originally originated from India where it was traditionally served without milk but with plenty of sugar or honey. Western companies might have looked there for inspiration and, recognizing the popularity, decided to commercialize green teas in western countries like the United States.

Green chai or, chai tea as it is called in the west, is now famous everywhere throughout the western world. Green chai is a real alternative to coffee for everyone who seeks a healthy drink to keep them fit. Green chais are usually found in single-serve, ready-to-drink tea lattes. Also, green chai industry is growing stronger by the day, as more and more people are getting concerned about their health and seek food and drinks that promise to keep them healthy and fit.

Green chais come in various flavors, for instance, Kashmir green chai tea, spicy tea latte, and organic green chai tea, to name just a few. Like the original green teas they are high in antioxidants and thus extremely useful to the immune system. Teas are usually well packed which makes them last for a long time, so the choice to purchase green chai is not only good for your health but also economically wise.
