Reasons to Drink Green Tea
In Asia people have been enjoying green tea since ancient times for many reasons. Only recently, many of the benefits of green tea have become apparent to the western world and the western medical community. But what are the reasons for the people in the west to want to drink green tea? Some of these reasons are given below.
Most Americans consume too much coffee. It is not unusual for someone to drink several cups of coffee each day. There may be countless different flavors available in the supermarkets, yet sometimes a true escape from the ordinary is asked for. Green tea might just provide that escape. With its exquisite flavor and soft, fresh aroma, green tea is a real alternative to coffee.
In Asia green tea has been enjoyed and drunk for its health benefits for centuries. Now, with the progress of science, the western medical community is beginning to see why. Green tea contains antioxidants which are known to to combat or neutralize free radicals and thus help to prevent cell – and tissue damage. As cancer is an ever present threat in our society, it is only natural that we would want to try anything that promises to prevent it, particularly if it is something as enjoyable and tasty as green tea.
For some people, one cup of coffee can already lead to what is called the „caffeine jitters“. All of you may have experienced it as some point, you drink that last sip of coffee and your heart begins to drum like mad behind your chest. That’s one of the main reasons why a lot of people have decided to give up coffee altogether. For these people, a different, milder form of caffeine might make the difference. Most regular green teas seem to have a much milder effect on a person. The exact reason for this isn’t exactly known, but drinking green tea seems a much easier way to stay alert for a busy day.
Of course, there are many more reasons why people like to drink green tea. But no matter what your reasons are, a cup of green tea will make you feel better and ready to face the day.
