Caring for Combination of Hair Types
She often gets irritated when someone speaks of her hair. What makes her so was a matter of curiosity to us? Actually, we loved to crack naughty jokes on her that you didn’t need to wear a watch just check out the time looking at the condition of her hair. In the morning, by 10 O’clock she was still neat, tidy and organized by the setting of her hair and in the evening by 4 PM, her head would become like the nest of a sparrow.
Well, we call her by the name of Miss Careless but actually she is the most careful girl in our college and is very particular about her concerns, from note making to maintaining her shoes. But there’s something really wrong with her hair. It is not that she doesn’t take care of her hair, but the ways she does doesn’t click.
She has thick, middle length hair with proper shine and a moreorless soft texture. But the hair type throughout is not symmetrical. She doesn’t have the same quality of hair all the way around her head. Some areas are highly moistened and some are pretty dry.
A combination of two or more types of hair is a normal thing and should not be taken as any disorder or abnormality. But what is required is proper maintenance of the combined set. Actually, Miss Careless does try every treatment on the market without the proper knowledge about the suitability of the hair products on the typical combination of her hair type.
Though the tips need more moisturizer as they easily get dry, the scalp area should be erased of the excess oiliness. Accumulation of dirt is more in the roots where as the ends form split ends and they easily break up. Now you cannot use two types of shampoos washing the same hair. Two treatments on the same hair will be ridiculous at the same time.
Now she can only go for a middle path or formulate an innovative way where both the problems can be checked. What could those be ? She had to make a bit of a change in the products she used and also a change in the way she used them. The techniques do matter! Don’t ignore them.
*Use a good quality shampoo that has a medium moisturizer content and not specified typically to be used by those who have oily hair. Because yours is not oily type, but oily-dry combo.
*Now while you use the shampoo wet the scalp and shampoo that area well. You are aware that this is the particular area that easily turns oily. Do you know why? Your skin on the head generated some natural oils called sebum that constantly comes out when your hair is exposed to heat. That has to be checked. So regular shampooing is a must and the scalp should be the first hit.
*On the reverse side, the tips of your hair get too dried up after being exposed to heat and sunlight. So if you directly shampoo this part and that too daily, the area will be simply deprived of any oil and moisture and dryness will grow more. Therefore the shampoo should flow down to the ends from the top instead of direct application while you use it. This works. Your hair is cleaned up and you can avoid the dryness.
*The type of water you use to shampoo your hair should never be too hot. A slight lukewarm does well on this combination of hair. After shampooing, if you intend to use conditioner, avoid it on the scalp but use it on the tips.
Thus, for Miss Careless all that she did earlier remained more or less same in her hair care procedure but with some permutation and combination. The other day it was 6 PM and Miss Careless gave us a stunning blow when we had to check our watch to become sure of the time. We just couldn’t believe our eyes!
